Design the issuer

An issuer design is how the issuing organisation appears to holders: name, description, logo and an optional issuer card. It is bound to the issuer DID and URI so the brand matches the keys that sign. Credential designs reference it, so it comes before them.

Complete first: Set up the credential issuer.

Steps and why they come in this order

StepWhy here
1. Review existing issuer designsSeveral credential designs can share one issuer design. Find the existing one for this issuer before creating a duplicate.
2. Create or import the issuer designThe design id is what credential designs reference through issuerDesignId, so it must exist before them.
3. Attach a card, localize and resolveVisuals and translations are edited after identity. Resolve shows what a wallet actually receives once layers are merged.
4. Align the tenant brandThe tenant brand drives the consoles, login and email the holder sees around issuance, so it should match the issuer design.

Why the binding matters

An issuer design names the issuer DID, id and URI it belongs to. Bind the wrong DID and a wallet will show a name that does not correspond to the signature on the credential, which is worse than showing nothing. Visual parts come after identity, in order: upload the logo (Manage design assets), create a card (Build render variants), then attach it to the design.
